SHARON WILLIAMS
SHARON WILLIAMS, AFCA, ACA, is a signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and the Alberta Society of
Artists and she is a member of the Burns Visual Arts Society. Sharon's paintings reflect her interest in surface texture
and color. Her work is eclectic and varied and the viewer is drawn in to investigate the subtle layer of hidden
meaning in her work. A popular Alberta artist and teacher, she has had several solo shows and is represented by several
galleries: Arts on Atlantic, Calgary; Elevation Gallery, Canmore; Centre D'Arts Visuels, Edmonton; Leighton Art Centre,
Calgary; and Art & Soul Gallery, High River. She has also won several awards for her work, including the Award of Excellence
in the Spillsbury Medal Show with the Federation of Canadian Artists, and she has been the featured artist in several
printed publications in the last years.
See Sharon's website at www.sharonlynnwilliams.com.
CREATIVE MIXED MEDIA/COLLAGE is for painters with some previous experience as well as those with more experience. Each
student will be challenged at their own level, with a lot of individual attention given. During this workshop we will
leave "safe" behind and learn to stretch our creative muscles. We will be working with acrylic paint and collage
to build up the painting surface, but will add other media when needed to get the desired results. These include
the possible use of inks, crayons, stamps, or anything else the work needs. We will be working from chaos, developing
the design or idea as the painting demands. Good design is a learned thing rather than a formula, and flows from
experience.
The main question to be explored in this workshop is "What would happen if......" We will be encouraged to try ideas
and then to respond to what happens on the work. This class has an emphasis on fun, with many mini-demos and plenty
of time to play. We will learn so much more than we thought possible with this approach. We will take our art to new
heights and let our creativity soar!
This workshop will be held at the upper level of the Ramsay Community Centre, 1136 - 8 Street SE, in Calgary .
