JEAN PEDERSON

JEAN PEDERSON, AWS, CSPWC, SFCA, ASA is the author of the newly released book "Expressive Faces: Creative methods for Painting People" and she is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Federation of Canadian Artists, and the Alberta Society of Artists. She has achieved international acclaim in recent years and she is a regular contributor to the Artist's Magazine. Recently her painting "Harloquin" was featured on the cover of the first issue of "Watercolor Artist", formerly the Artist's magazine. She has had her work placed in the Royal Collection in Winsor, England, and has been honored with numerous National and International awards over the years. In 2005, Jean was the first recipient of the Federation of Cnadian Artists Early Achievement Award, granted for her many honors, awards, international writing to promote art educations, and consistent, exceptional painting.

Jean has exhibited her work internationally in London England, Stockholm Sweden, New York, United Nations, San Franciso, Mexico, and across Canada.

FACES AND FIGURES IN WATER MEDIA is an intermediate level workshop and we will be working with models. This course will open the door into the exploration of various combinations of mixed media with an emphasis on water soluble paints and mediums as they relate to the human face and figure. We will be encouraged to work beyond our traditional practice in persuit of our own personal language. We will also be exploring how everything from watercolor to gouache, gesso, acrylics, inks, mark-making tools, collage and much more can be applied to figure painting. Emphasis will be placed on design, personal style, and class work and individual attention will be part of this workshop, as well as a wealth of support material provided by Jean.

The fee for this workshop includes model fees.

Please bring your own reference material of photos and/or sketches.

This workshop will be held at the Ramsay Community Centre, Upper Level, 1136 - 8 Street SE, in Calgary .
