, Workshop Description
ABSTRACTING THE LANDSCAPE in acrylic is for experienced beginner to intermediate level artists who would like to break out of realism, loosen up and to learn to abstract the landscape. Susan will guide us through several exercises to accomplish this, including color exercises to develop different palettes, value exercises to enhance design, the mechanics of building a painting and using line as an expressive tool. Susan will also include mark-making exercises and how to simplify our reference photos. We will then apply the above lessons to a larger canvas, introducing some texturing to the surface and experimenting with layers. We will have lots of time to paint. Includes demos and critiques and an atmosphere of encouragement and fun. This is a Zoom workshop, which will start each day at 10:00 am Mountain Time and will run until 1:00 pm, for a total of 3 hours each day.
All sessions of this workshop will be recorded and the recording will be available to participants for one month following the workshop.
