About The Instructor
"The act of making art has been a lifelong quest. If I am not painting, then I am dreaming of painting. I like to interpret my subject rather than record it - thus striving for more of an impression rather than a detailed representational image. My paintings often celebrate nature and familiar setting - the ordinary viewed at a special moment in time. The quality of light, unique atmospheric conditions and inherent color influences my paintings. I like to work quickly and directly, using decisive marks. I love color and use it freely" Margaret Roseman is an internationally known painter working in both acrylic and watercolor. She is an award-winning artist, an international juror, and a highly respected instructor/art educator. Margaret has instructed at national symposiums and painting workshops in many parts of the world - Mexico, the Caribbean, France, Italy, the United States of America and Canada. She recently took part as a "Master Painter" in the 2020 Chinese and Foreign International Watercolor Masters Invitational Exhibition. Margaret's work has been featured in International publications (North Light Books, International Artist Magazine) and may be found in corporate, public, and private collections worldwide. She is a signature member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor (CSPWC), the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA) and is the Founder and Lifetime Director of the Toronto Watercolour Society. Her achievements and contributions to the arts have been recognized with the 125th Anniversay of Canadian Confederation Medal and an Ontario Volunteer Service Award. Margaret is included and profiled in Canadian Who's Who. |
Online Workshop Description
ATMOSPHERIC LANDSCAPES - THE LANDSCAPE IN ACRYLIC - ONLINE
April 29 & 30 and May 1, 2022 1:00 to 4:00 Eastern Time, by Zoom.
Combine vision and the illusion of reality to capture the mystery and mood of the changing seasons.
In this workshop we will be encouraged to think more with an eye for design to capture light, space and atmosphere while painting the rugged beauty of rocks, trees, water, and reflections.
Emphasis will be on selecting, arranging, and editing value relationships to achieve a painting with dramatic lighting effects. Starting with exercises and demonstrations, we will explore the specific issues of spatial and atmospheric perspective. Building from a design structure that focuses on shape, scale, texture and surface quality, the instruction will first focus on depth and dimension. The introduction of unique atmospheric conditions and seasonal colour changes will provide opportunities to extend traditional perception and to foster creativity.
Suitable for beginners interested in exploring their creative potential and more experienced painters who have reached a plateau and seek further challenge.
Demonstrations, critiques and individual feedback are all important components of this learning experience.
