About The Instructor
JUVE FURTADO, AFCA, was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. After a 32 year career in education in Winnipeg, he decided it was time to pursue his love of art and photography. Retiring to Vernon was the incentive he needed to delve into his art. Juve is a self-taught artists and his preferred medium is watercolor. A signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, his work is featured annually in various FCA juried shows, as well as Lake Country’s Annual Art Walk in the Okanogan and the Calgary Stampede Western Art Show. Workshop Description
LETTING LOOSE WITH WATERCOLOR is for experienced beginner and intermediate artists who want to experience a loose approach to watercolors. Watercolor pouring is a fun, intuitive approach to painting which can produce interesting and unpredictable results. We will discover how we can complete 80% of our paintings without the use of a brush. Juve will touch on the importance of composition and light in a painting, share his color palette and the materials uses. We will paint along with Juve as he takes us through the various stages of his painting process including: the stretching of watercolor paper, the use of masking fluid, the pouring and spattering of watercolor, adding the final details and discuss how to present our work without glass. We will have the opportunity to ask questions. Includes individual assistance as well as demos and lectures.
