MIXED MEDIA BASICS - ONLINE WITH JEAN PEDERSON
About The Instructor
Jean Pederson is an accomplished and innovative artist, author and educator working in oil, watercolor, acrylic and mixed media. Layering her mediums and obscuring portions of subsequent layers has been a foundation of her painting process. Jean's subjects may vary. The core of each painting begins with an idea that is then interpreted through layers of paint, and mark making. Her work has been featured in many periodicals and she has authored two instructional books. Jean has also contributed to several of the Splash series and other books, and contributed as a guest blogger for the Artist Network. Ms. Pederson has received numerous awards nationally and internationally, her work is included in the Royal Collection in Windsor, England and the International Watercolor Museum in Fabriano, Italy as well as the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Canada Council of the Arts. |

MIXED MEDIA BASICS
November 3 - 7, 2021 at 9:00 - Noon or 1:00 Mountain Time, by Zoom.
Learn simple steps for developing your exciting mixed media artwork. Hop online and learn how to successfully use acrylic mediums, collage, mark making, and simplifying through demos, class discussion, and critiques. We will use Zoom to host the class and students will require internet and a laptop or iPad to connect to this workshop.
Each day will provide 3 hours of online instruction with homework assignments to be completed off line.
There is an order to how to layer successfully. We will discuss acrylics, gels, mediums, strengths and weaknesses of different paint properties. We will all have a common knowledge base. For day 2 we will discuss collage - what is it, what can you collage and how can we make collage paper.
In day three we will make sense of our subject matter, developing a design that can you read on a crazy surface. And we will discuss making grounds for future paintings. On day four we will apply our design to our crazy grounds and develop our paintings. Finishing with discussion and a class critique included on the last day.
We will attend the Zoom session with Jean in the mornings, ( Wednesday through Sunday) and have the afternoons to paint.
