About The Instructor
Ingrid Christensen is an award-winning painter and instructor who specializes in figurative and still-life oil painting. Influenced by French and Russian Impressionism, her work is an exploration of light, colour and dynamic mark-making. Her subjects are figures, florals, still-life.
A self-proclaimed 'paint nerd', Ingrid has written and featured in Winsor & Newton Masterclass videos, contributed articles to Artsy Magazine, and taught sold-out workshops in Canada, Mexico, and most recently, Italy.
Ingrid's work is represented by galleries in both Canada and the USA, and her paintings are held in public and private collections worldwide.

Workshop Description
The Living Portrait - Paint Portraits From Photos
Learn to paint loose portraits full of color and energy in this fabulous workshop!
Using photos of your own or those that Ingrid provides, you'll discover the keys to accurate proportion and fuss-free features. We'll tackle different age groups and lighting conditions with the aim of developing a logical system that you can apply to any portrait in the future. As well, you'll learn to compose the portrait on the canvas, using line, shape, colour and brushwork to emphasize and enhance key elements of the person being depicted. If painting a face has been a daunting prospect for you in the past, this workshop will demystify it and give you the tools to explore this wonderful and rewarding genre with confidence.
The workshop will run from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm each day, with a 45-minute lunch break.
