Val MacPhee
Valerie was born and raised in Manitoba, later lived in Wisconsin for four years, then moved to BC.
She has been drawing since a child and painting for 20 years. Val loves a variety of subjects but has been concentrating on landscapes for the last 10 years. Val has explored oils, watercolor, acrylics and collage. She has furthered her own education through workshops with instructors such as Barbara Nechis, Jean Pederson, Gerald Brommer, Susan Woolgar, and others. She is a member of Cranbrook District Arts Council, the Cranbrook Critique Club and the Kimberley Arts Council.
Val has had solo shows and participated in several groups shows in MacKenzie, Prince George, Cranbrook and area. She was awarded winner in the Visarts 2004, Artsaround 2004 and Kimberley Arts Festival 2004. SHe also won awards in Artsaround 2005 and Visarts 2005. She has also participated in the BC festival of Arts in Prince George.
Val has recently been able to dedicate her time to become a full-time artist in her studio, Littlemac Art Studio in Cranbrook, where she lives with her family. She is also teaching art from her studio and for the Cranbrook and District Arts Council. Teaching art workshops in other countries is one of her dreams.
