Kristen Federchuk

artist image

Inspired by the natural environment around her, Kristen Federchuk obtained a degree in Environmental and Conservation Science at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.  After working in both the government and private sector, she began to pursue her first love: Art.   Kristen is an internationally collected artist with limited edition prints and paintings in collections around the world.  She now divides her time between both Edmonton and Calgary, actively participating in shows throughout the province.  Her work is available for sale in Alberta and British Columbia.

Kristen is a self-taught artist whose detail oriented paintings achieve a high level of realism. All of her paintings are original Acrylic on Canvas paintings of the Canadian Rocky Mountains as well as various other locations around the world. She is currently a supporting member of the Alberta Society of Artists and a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, as well as being a member of the Harcourt House Arts Centre in Edmonton.  Kristen has been selling her work privately and publicly since 2004 including a select number of commissioned paintings and prints.

Kristen’s work can be purchased: directly from the artist, at Leading Edge Online Gallery, at Gust Gallery in Waterton Lakes National Park, at the   Whyte Museum in Banff National Park or at the Glenbow Museum Gift Shop in Calgary, Alberta.  Or the LeRelais Day Shelter - Lake O'Hara in Yoho National Pakrk, British Columbia.

Artist Statement:

“I am drawn into my work by the play of light and shadow within the landscape and I strive to capture this strength within my paintings.  I use this play of light and shadow to create large abstract shapes that are then brought to life through a series of fine and delicate detail work.  It is really the detailing that keeps me tied to a painting, the excitement of capturing the minute details that are missed at first glance and which continually provide something new to be found each day. It is my intent that the observer will feel as though they are within the painting as it is brought to life through these interactions and that it will awaken within them a sense of peacefulness, serenity and refreshment.”

Limited edition commissioned works are available.
