Lynne Ayers
Lynne Ayers is a native of Montreal and has been living in southeastern Ontario for the past 13 years. Always having needed a creative outlet, her artistic pursuits have lead her into crafts, quilting, sketching and a brief foray into oil painting. Five years ago, in search of something new, she discovered watercolors and became entranced with the medium from the first moment.
Without formal instruction beyond high school art classes, Lynne is self-taught and has learned all she paints through trial and error. Through her efforts she has begun to develop her own style and approach to her work. While in sketching she favoured portraits and close-up details of larger scenes, her paintings have gravitated to landscapes with particular focus on water with persistent efforts to try to capture its character and movement. Her inspirational masters are the Impressionists, particulary Monet.
Lynne works from her home studio in Green Valley, Ontario utilizing her own photographs taken at home and abroad as reference. See more of her work on her website at www.beyondthebrush.ca.
Statement: I consider my work to be representational. My efforts are focused on trying to combine the spontaneous qualities of the watercolor medium with textural detail. My goals for each painting are a portrayal of atmosphere, texture, and movement while retaining an alusion to the rough edge and natural chaos of nature.
