Workshop Description
Loosen Up with Acrylic Landscape
This workshop is open to all levels of experience and we will learn, through exercises and demos, to loosen up while we paint landscapes of the local area. Dale will demo, and likes to answer questions as he does so, and he will suggest that we try several exercises to get us to loosen up while applying the acrylic paint.
Dale will also provide an explanation of the paints and mediums that he personally uses in his work. This includes the gels, retarders and pastes that he uses when the work requires it, such as enabling the paint to dry slower and to give the paint thicker texture. He will demo with open acrylics and we may use a retarder for our regular acrylics if we don't wish to purchase the open acrylics. And if we do, this will be an excellent opportunity to learn how to use them to best advantage. Dale's work is atmospheric and moody, and he will be doing demos of our local landscape in the Edmonton area.
Other exercises to help us loosen up include doing a simple painting of one of Dale's demos, and to try painting with a much larger brush. The last portion of the workshop will allow us to work on our own projects, and Dale will provide assistance and solutions to our problems and concerns.
Location: Edmonton - The Art Society of Alberta - in the A.J. Ottewell Center, Sherwood Park.
Date: September 29, 30 and October 1, 2023 IN-PERSON
Price: $445.00
