About The Instructor
BRIAN BUCKRELL is an award-winning plein air and studio painter now based in Collingwood, Ontario. When he retired as a professor of veterinary medicine, he immersed himself in art full-time, investing in study at the Watts Atelier in California and studying with acclaimed artists throughout North America. His paintings are reflective of his love of the outdoors, agriculture and rural communities. A brilliant instructor, he has amalgamated his knowledge of teaching with the best that his art experiencse have to offer. He has been on faculty for Plein Air Convention in Santa Fe, NM, and was the only Canadian chosen to participate in the Door County Plein Air Competition in Wisconsin. His work has been featured in Arabella Magazine, Southwest Art, Plein Air Magazine, Plein Air Today and in North Light Books: The Best Of Acrylics 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Workshop Description
A strong composition is key to creating a successful painting. Strong compositions cannot be built without a solid understanding of the fundamentals: shape, value, colour, perspective and design. This workshop will focus on those fundamentals for two weekends, and offers 16 hours of Zoom classes including presentations, demos, and exercises. The weekends will be followed by a dedicated Facebook group for discussing, sharing and critiquing. Participants will be provided with notes and a copy of the Zoom program video. This workshop, which will start on Zoom at 11:00 am Mountain Time and will run until 3:00 pm each day.
SERIOUS LEARNING, SERIOUS FUN!!
All sessions of this workshop will be recorded and the recording will be available to participants for one month following the workshop.
