Workshop Description
ABSTRACT PAINTING in Landscape and Still Life is for artists who have some experience. Abstraction opens up the use of imagination and offers the artist an opportunity to express that unique condition of self that we all strive for. We will add collage to acrylic paint to give a special shape/interruption condition to the painting surface. We can bring collage papers that we have used before, ie rice papers and tissue papers, and Brian will show us how he makes his own collage paper from acrylic paint and paper from a sketchbook. Both Still Life and Landscape give us an endless choice of subjects to which these techniques can be applied. We will use
2 panels to create one painting and we will work on this format for two of the days. Using two 12” x 12” cradled wood supports, we will create order from disorder! If you are looking to bring a certain visual edge to your abstract landscapes and still life, you will find this workshop most valuable. Each day Brian will demo followed by time to paint, wit his generous assistance, as we broaden our range of techniques and encourage creativity and freedom of style. Includes demos and lots of individual guidance.
