Workshop Description
DYNAMIC COLLAGE IN ACRYLIC PAINTING is for artists who have some experience with painting. Many of us have at some time in our painting, used collage to bring interest to the subject matter. Brian has observed many artists using transparent / translucent printed papers that do bring collage to their art making, but leave collage in a relatively passive state.
If you are an artist that has used tissue, or manufactured papers as your collage material – Brian would like to offer us a seriously different experience. Dynamic collage in acrylic painting.
We will use 40 – 100 lb acid free sketch book paper, along with varied acrylic paint techniques to create our own collage papers, that bring strong tonal / colour and texture to our compositions.
The first day of the workshop, Brian will show us how he makes his collage paper – then demonstrate its use in a painting. We will make our own collage paper, and apply collage techniques to our own work, for the remainder of the first day, and continue on with this, and our own work for the remaining two days.
Brian will do a brief demonstration each morning to further explore the effects of Dynamic Collage in Acrylic painting. And he will spend the rest of the day offering individual assistance to students. Feel free to bring your own collage material to see how you might include it in the demonstrated collage techniques.
