Online Workshop Description
BUILDING ON FUNDAMENTALS FOR STRONGER PAINTINGS
Six mornings in November & December 2022 - . November 19 & 20, 26 & 27, and December 3 & 4. from 10 am to 1 pm Pacific Time
This six-session weekend Zoom workshop is designed for thos that have progressed beyond the true beginner stage and are already comfortable with their medium and have an early understanding of the fundamentals of painting. We will spend two days each focusing on three important fundamentals: value and shape, color, and perspective/composition. The first day of each weekend will include a presentation and the use of exercises that we will do together. On the second day of each weekend we will make two painting "starts" together that build on the fundamentals being covered.
Participants will be encouraged to paint along as I do my demos. Participants will be encouraged to join a follow-up Facebook group for sharing and discussing.
The exercises will be done with acrylics - but other mediums are accepted. Brian will use image-editing software to manage photos to make interesting reference material and will use digital drawing software for planning. Students do not have to purchase or use these programs. Workshop notes will be provided and the workshop will be recorded for additional viewing. There will be lots of learning and lots of fun!
Here is a testimonial from Dixie Baum, who has attended and hosted several of Brian's workshops:
Before Brian became a painter, he was a university professor. His skill as a teacher really shows up in the way he organizes and presents information and the fun and encouraging learning environment he creates. He understands how people learn and what is essential for artists to know in order to become better painters. He presents condensed and foundational principals in a way that is easy to grasp and follows it up with painting exercises and demonstrations that make it crystal clear. I have taken several of his workshops and have been fortunate enough to take some workshops more than once. It’s easy to do given how much information is packed in. My painting and confidence improves each time. I am grateful for all I have learned, and I highly recommend his workshops.
